We are currently looking for a field crew assistant.

Lynx Surveyors is currently seeking a Field Crew Assistant. The Field Crew Assistant will assist the Field Crew Chief and the rest of the team members with the operations required for completing survey data gathering on mortgage location surveys and boundary surveys throughout the local area. This may include operating conventional and GPS survey equipment, setting stakes, property flags, and iron rods. Other duties may include assisting in completing descriptive methods of the survey data activity such as note taking, sketches and photography.

Responsibilities

The Field Crew Assistant will be working with an assigned field crew under a Field Crew Chief’s supervision. Candidates must be responsible, motivated, and detailed oriented. The applicant must be able to work in a team environment yet contribute as a key point individual if required. This position offers advancement opportunities for individuals that demonstrate a strong work ethic and continually contribute to the success of the organization.

Other duties include, but may not be limited to:
  • Assist in supervising other field team members if required
  • Assist the Field Crew Chief with all aspects of the daily workload.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and work policies as outlined and/or verbally instructed.
  • Assist in the care of survey equipment and vehicles.
  • Perform manual labor, such as removing debris, trash, brush, and other items that may interfere with the survey’s data collection process.
  •  Availability to work overtime and weekends if required to meet project deadlines.

Requirements

  • Preferred – Minimum of 1 yr. land survey field experience, specifically working with various survey instruments i.e. (Level Rods, Data Collectors, EDM’s, Total Stations).
  • Knowledge of standard principles, terms, and applications of land surveying.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Own a valid Driver’s License.
  • Demonstrate good communications skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rural and urban surroundings.
  • Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly walk, stand, crouch, or stoop, frequently lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Walk over rough, uneven, or slippery surfaces.
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
